Famed Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro made news in a rather unceremonious way when he rolled his Land Rover Defender down a hillside in Sardinia. But the Defender that he crashed was not the old British tractor with upright body panels and solid axles, but rather the sleek, modern successor to that legend built with an aluminum unibody and independent air suspension.
