This past weekend was supposed to be the Festival of Speed, the annual bacchanal of internal combustion at Goodwood House in England. If, like us, you’ve ever been to the Festival, don’t feel sorry for yourself (again). No one got to go this year.
Because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Goodwood organizers cancelled the 2020 running of the FOS, which was originally scheduled for July 9-12. For good measure (and perhaps wisely) they’ve also gone ahead and cancelled the 2020 Goodwood Revival, the pre-1966 motoring themed costume party/fashion show, originally planned for September 11-13.
If the world is on its way to recovering from the pandemic in 2021, both events are expected to return with similar dates. Assuming your American passport is good for international travel by then, you can check goodwood.com for updates.
Until then, enjoy this video of Jurgen Barth flogging a 1973 Porsche 911 RSR in the wet up the hill climb at last year’s running of the Festival of Speed. You’ll probably want to turn up the volume too.
