Luftgekühlt 7 Postponed Until 2021

The COVID-19 crisis has claimed yet another promising event for 2020. Today, organizers of the air-cooled Porsche cultural phenomenon known as Luftgekühlt announced that the seventh edition of the show would be postponed until next year because of concerns about the current pandemic.

For Porsche fans on the east coast, this news comes as a blow since Luftgekühlt 7 was to take place on November 1, 2020 in Durham, NC, the first installment in the series to take place outside of California. The event will move to next year in the same location, with a date to be announced at a later time.

“The competitor and optimist in me doesn’t give in easily,” said Patrick Long, founder of Luftgekühlt. “We’ve shaken the trees to look at all potential ideas but, for the time being, there isn’t sufficient latitude to produce large scale events for a diverse and well-traveled audience.”

Given the current rise in cases in many southern states, and the fact that many eastern states have imposed stricter travel restrictions on interstate travel, the decision makes sense.

“This one definitely stings; we have invested 14 months into the production of Luft 7, but I know it’ll make the event stronger and will be even more appreciated when the time is right to come together again,” Long explained. “We continue to be humbled by the messages of support and energy from both the community and our passionate followers. Trust that we remain committed to delivering on our mission and to remain inclusive and unique as we craft our story with you all.”
