Nothing wrecks the look of a classic interior like an ugly modern radio. And with the announcement of its new SXT-C10PS audio receiver, audio component manufacturer Pioneer is sending clear signals that it understands our plight.
“As restoration trends rise and original OEM parts become harder to source, vehicle owners turn to familiar brands for solutions,” explained Girish Janday, marketing manager for Pioneer Europe NV. “explained the philosophy behind the new design. “Our studies show that owners prefer to maintain the original appearance of their vehicle dashboards, avoiding modern screens that disrupt the original look.”

The new single-DIN head unit looks like it’s fresh out of 1986, complete with what looks like a tape deck. But behind that familiar shape lives a USB 2.0 port and a standard AUX input for connecting modern devices. Though there’s no word about Apple CarPlay or Android functionality, the unit will apparently be smartphone-compatible via Pioneer’s Smart Synch App.
The appearance blends perfectly with just about anything from the 1980s but includes Bluetooth™ connectivity as well as an FM-only digital radio receiver. The multi-color RGB illumination allows the receiver to integrate with most vehicles’ factory dashboard lighting for a seamless look, whether it’s VW green, Porsche amber, or BMW red.

Technical details include a 13-band graphic equalizer, 3 RCA pre-out to accommodate front, rear, and subwoofer channels, and 4 50-watt MOSFET channels. And yes, to finish the throwback party, the SXT-C10PS features a removable fascia panel.
The Pioneer SXT-C10PS will be available in October 2025. Pricing has not yet been announced.
